In the Fellicarolo valley, just before the hamlet of I Taburri, the Doccione stream tumbles through rocks and beech woods with a total drop of about 120 metres, around twenty of them in a vertical fall. It is one of the best-known waterfalls in the Modena Apennines and one of the easiest to reach.
A short, level path leads from the road to the foot of the falls in about ten minutes, and it can be managed with pushchairs and wheelchairs. If you want to walk further, you can climb through the woods to the top of the cascade and continue towards I Taburri, the starting point of the trails to Libro Aperto.
The waterfall changes with the seasons: cool and shady in summer, framed by the colours of the beech woods in autumn, and sculpted by ice into spectacular shapes in winter.
