Cimone is the most important ski area in Emilia-Romagna. Its slopes run down the sides of Sestola, Fanano, Riolunato and Montecreto and add up to more than 50 linked kilometres; most are intermediate and very wide, suited both to regular skiers and to those who want to improve.
There are several ways into the ski area: Passo del Lupo and Lago della Ninfa on the Sestola side, Cimoncino above Fanano, Le Polle at Riolunato, Pian del Falco, linked to Passo del Lupo by shuttle, and Montecreto. Along the Ninfa slope there is a snowpark for jumps and tricks, while at Lago della Ninfa, Le Polle and Cimoncino the youngest children have dedicated play areas. Lower down there are also cross-country trails and off-piste routes.
The lifts are run by the Consorzio Stazione invernale del Cimone: ski passes, prices and season opening dates are on the consortium’s website, which is also worth checking for slope conditions before you set off.
