With pedal assistance, the full loop around Cimone is within reach of anyone used to cycling. The route is about 50 kilometres long, of medium difficulty, and starts and finishes in Sestola. You can ride it on your own with a GPS track or with a local guide.
From the valley it climbs through chestnut and oak woods, then fir and beech woods and high pastures: it passes Pian del Falco, with its oratory, and Lago della Ninfa, reaches Fontana Bedini at 1,632 metres and arrives at Pian Cavallaro, at 1,880 metres, just below the summit, with a wide view over the valley.
The descent leads to Doccia, where signs point to the Celtic huts, and to Fiumalbo, a village of stone houses with its marcolfe, the faces carved into the walls. The route skirts Pievepelago and returns towards Sestola through Riolunato, with Piazza del Trebbo and the church of San Giacomo, and Montecreto, with its castle ruins. If you still have energy, you can finish at Sestola castle.
