Vecchia Lama

Family cooking in Lama Mocogno, looking out over the Cimone valley: grilled meats, hand-rolled pasta, porcini mushrooms and truffle in season. Listed in the Michelin Guide.

In Lama Mocogno, at 842 metres and facing the Cimone valley, Vecchia Lama is a family restaurant that has been open since 1990. In the kitchen, chef Fabrizio looks after the meat, while his wife Loredana rolls the pasta by hand and makes the desserts.

The cooking starts from the Emilian tradition with an eye on nearby Tuscany: ricotta and marjoram tortelloni, passatelli with black truffle, wood-oven porchetta, grilled suckling pig and, to finish, zuppa inglese. In season, porcini mushrooms and truffle take centre stage, including in a dedicated tasting menu. In summer you can also eat outside on the terrace.

The Michelin Guide has listed it for some years as a simple, welcoming place; in 2024 it awarded it a Bib Gourmand, the distinction for restaurants offering good value for money.
